Dad’s Day revisited

I know I am a week late on this post. I have a list of like 7 blog posts to write, so I think I am going to do a marathon of posts and date them in advance…

Last Sunday was Father’s Day and the girls and Karl had a great bonding day (revolved around sweets). I actually woke up before Karl, so Brady and I snuck out the door in our PJs to pick up fresh Krispy Kreme doughnuts. Luckily there was a drive through, so only the neighbors had a chance to see our PJs.

The girls were very eager to give their homemade cards and gifts they picked out themselves.

Reese decided Karl needed a “Go Harvick” shirt. Great gift, however, she picked out the one that said “It’s Father’s Day and all I got is this Lousy Shirt 29” HAHA! She was quite proud of her gift.

Brady said Karl needed a “Go Giants” shirt. She picked out a black shirt with a giant logo. Great choice!

After breakfast and gifts, we headed off to the base to shop at the NEX. When we got back Brady made Karl his lunch. Luckily Karl likes very simple lunches.

IMG_5179

During and after lunch, Karl did what he likes to do best: watch NASCAR! I ran to the grocery store to buy a fresh steak for dinner. We also snatched the ingredients to make a cookie cake. Brady wrote Dad on her half.

Reese opted for the purple blob on her half. But let me tell you, there is love in that blob!!!

IMG_5185

The girls got quite a kick out of Karl’s goofiness when presented with two cookie cakes.

IMG_5187

Anytime he picked up to whole thing and pretended to bite it, they would just giggle and giggle.

I will have to say though,  I think Karl got the best gift of all this year. About a month or two ago, Brady made a sudden switch from being a Mommy’s girl to being a Daddy’s girl. She now wakes up asking for him. She runs to him when he gets home from work, saying ‘dada’. I am very happy for Karl! He loves them unconditionally but I know it feels good to be sought after by one of them.

I love my babies’ Daddy!

Happy Fathers’ Day

To all the Dads out there, I hope you really enjoy yourself today!

To three very special dads, thank you for all you have done over the last 29 years (and 4 years)! But really I have personally enjoyed watching all three of these men over the past four years. Everyone of them have a special, unique relationship with Brady and Reese. I love watching the interactions with my girls and the special men in my life.

I love you all and thank you for the years of great fun, look forward the multiplying those memories in the years to come.

Minnie Pool Party for Brady

Today Brady had her LONG awaited birthday party. She has been talking about her party since we started planning Reese’s party last October. She choose to have a Minnie Mouse party at the pool. It was very fun to plan and since it was at the pool, there was fun had by all at the party. Here are the details:

I made the invitations…pink and sparkles. Brady’s two favorite things

The cake; look at all the subtle details (thanks to my anonymous baker for working your butt off for this!)

Here is the table all set up. I made the banner with my scrapbook Cricut machine.

There were some details that got lost once the food was out, but I got platters so that they would be in the shape of the Minnie heads.

Everybody enjoyed the pools a little before cake time.

The beach entry pool was perfect for the babies in the group.

The wind prevented Brady from being able to blow out her candles. She was a little disappointed but didn’t let it stop her from having fun.

As you can tell, they wore themselves out! The sweet thing in this picture is the same towel is covering both their laps. I love how they share.

IMG_5142

In lieu of gifts, Brady collected items for the local Ronald McDonald House. She was very proud of her collection and can’t wait to bring it to the house.

IMG_5145

One card she rec’d had a sticker cake, so she started blowing those candles out…

IMG_5149

So we put a candle in the leftover cake and let her blow out the candle at home.

IMG_5153

Lastly for party favors I made each kid a tie dye mickey or minnie shirt.

IMG_5039IMG_4969IMG_4974IMG_4971IMG_4977

While you make think I am crazy for tie dying that many shirts, I got it done for about $2.50 per shirt! For me that is exciting to be able to get something done for less. I think of it as the labor of love!

Well at dinner tonight, we spent the whole time talking about what Reese wants for her party in December…my girls like to party plan!

“That is SO Messed Up”

About a week ago, Brady was brushing her hair which was full of tangles. Then she said “That is SO messed up”, with lots of emphasis on ‘so’. I started cracking up and she kept saying since she was getting attention for it.

I asked her where she got that phrase from. She stated that “Taylor says it when she is in the truck”. Go to time maker 0:20..

You guessed it, Brady was saying it with that same inflection. The funny thing is this is the only Taylor Swift that I don’t love for the girls to hear since it says redneck and stupid, words I don’t want in their vocabulary. I have never heard them say those words randomly in the day, but I hear “that is SO messed up” often Winking smile

Orthnerisms: Amelia Bedila

Let’s start with Reese on this segment of Orthnerisms:

Twice today Reese gave me a good good laugh and felt the need to share these stories with you.

At dinner, we were talking about Brady’s birthday party tomorrow. The conversation lead me to say to Reese, “You tell the people who are throwing the party whether or not you are attending” Reese then put her hand by her ear, tossed it forward then said “throw my party”. It took me a second to catch what she was doing, but once I figured out she was THROWING a party I laughed pretty hard. I just kept thinking about my favorite childhood books Amelia Bedila.

After dinner we were cleaning up all the toys. Usually Karl or I will assign a different section of the house to each girl to focus on. Karl asked Brady to clean up the dolls and Reese to clean up her Princesses. When it was time for good night story I walked into her room and saw this pile.

IMG_5026

I said to Karl, I thought you asked her to clean the princesses up. He said “look closer, she did clean up the PRINCESSES” HAHAHA That smart little cookie took us literally and left all the acquaintances of the princesses on the floor. I think I am in for trouble when this little girl becomes a teenager.

Now for Brady girl…

She received a “Baby Alive” doll for her birthday. This is a toy I always wanted when I was little (of course big sister had one but not me). You feed it and it pees and poops in a diaper. Well Brady has LOVED this doll. She has ”potty trained” it and tried to teach it to crawl. She has also cleaned her ears every time after I have to cleaned her newly pierced ears. Also,  I love how she wil be holding the doll while watching TV and occasionally kiss it on the top of her head. But what cracks me up is that I now called “grandma” she will say things like “Grandma, can you go get me another diaper?” Yep, I am a Grandma at 29!

Pretty in Pink

I know I have blogged more about Brady lately but I couldn’t pass this up…

Brady pick every single element of her outfit out today. I am sure you will see a common theme very quickly.

IMG_4953IMG_4954IMG_4955IMG_4956IMG_4957

Now for the complete package, and yes, she posed like that all by herself.

IMG_4958

I know I know, no pink nail polish, she is seriously slacking Winking smile

On a completely unrelated note: She went to her 4 year old well check today. 50th %ile in height and weight and got her shots tear free. I love that my girls have my pain tolerance, makes life much easier!
